20060307 – car accident leftovers – 109-0903

I got into a minor car accident, and some pieces of my car broke off. I took pictures to remember them by.
I also lost his wallet, with 0 in it, in the course of the accident aftermath. My brakes also mysteriously went bad THAT DAY, and Farmers Insurance conveniently refused to consider it as accident damage.
So the total was about 00 out of pocket, and about 0 spent by Farmers — 0 wallet cash, 0 damage deductable, 0 brakes repair, 0 identity reestablishment.
I still contend that asshole didn’t signal. He also refused to show me his insurance information until a cop came and made him. He admitted to the cop he didn’t see me, too. The problem is, if you are more than 1% responsible, then you’re pretty much fucked, insurance-wise.
What happened? I was on a sidestreet, ready to turn on a busy main street. The left lane had a truck in it, but the right lane was clear. I had my signal on. I came accelerated into traffic, and the guy changed lanes. The very back-right of his truck hit the very front-left of my car. It was quite obviously him changing into my line. But since he has the right of way, I am more than 1% responsible. The thing is, I was already pretty much established in the lane before he hit me – past the intersection. I also check signals of cars in far lane to make sure they aren’t doing what he did, and had no sun in my eyes (which can make signals invisible).
