There are hundreds of thousands of web sites that will offer you an instant car insurance quote, but can they be trusted? There are a lot of web sites out there that promise the world, but very few actually deliver and we suspect this is true of the majority of these so called instant car insurance providers.We randomly selected three web sites and quickly discovered all three were not very helpful. One site only asked for a zip code and the model of the car. This is a good start, but we were surprised to see that the site did not ask one single question about the driver or her history before declaring that our quote was ready and hey would re-direct us to it after initial payment was processed. The very next site we ran into there was a box that claimed it would deliver quotes from five well known companies in ten minutes or less. We filled out the form and hit submit. Less than ten minutes later we had a quote from all of the companies promised and they were extremely competitive. The problems came when we began contacting the insurers directly and not one of the five companies offered us the quote we got online. This was a classic bait and switch and we fell for it, hook, line, and sinker. The best site we found was the web page of an actual auto insurance company that everyone has probably heard of.
